Our accomplishments in 2011

Here are some of the amazing things that, together with you - our supporters -  we've accomplished in 2011:

v  We provided more than 25 Nonviolence Skills Training sessions, involving nearly 500 participants in total.

v  We supported the Occupy Wallstreet/Occupy Together movement and Veterans for Peace by providing  nonviolence peace team trainings for Occupy Washington D.C. and Occupy Lansing, Michigan....and we're currently consulting with the Occupy Ann Arbor,  Occupy Detroit, Occupy Traverse City, Occupy Iowa City, and Occupy Boston groups.

v  Our website has had over 450,00 hits this year, originating from not only the USA but from 45 other countries as well.  We have 2,100 members participate in MPT’s weekly listserv, and our Facebook presence boasts 1,232 friends from all over the world.

v  We've maintained our peace team presence in the West Bank, and in November received an award from Palestinian organizers for our work supporting their nonviolent efforts to end the Occupation.

v  We've continued placing Domestic Peace Teams in areas of potential violence.  This has included large deployments (such as the teams placed during the weekend-long American Catholic Conference - with 46 team members, and the Arab American Festival - with 41 peace team members) and smaller teams (such as the day-long Michigan Pride Festival - with 21 peace team members, and a 6-member team for a presentation by Jewish Witnesses for Peace and Friends).  All of our domestic peace team members are trained in the skills and tools of nonviolence.

v  Our Internship Program at the MPT Lansing Office is outstanding and is flourishing.  Our interns complete a curriculum on the power of nonviolent action; work on special MPT projects; and get involved in hands-on MPT work including trainings, domestic peace teams, presentations, workshops, and outreach tables.  During 2011,  9 students successfully completed MPT's Intern Program.  This year, MPT interns came from the United States, Japan, France, Costa Rica, and Egypt. To the present day, the intern from Egypt - now back home - continues to serve on an MPT Core Committee via technology.

v  MPT's Faith Community Project has continued.  Presentations made during worship services, at the invitation of the congregants, have reached over 3500 families/households

v  Our Presentations and Workshops have been nothing short of amazing.  In 2011 alone, we have offered almost 300 presentations, with a total of nearly 15,000 participants.

v  And we've done extensive information sharing on the power and strategic wisdom of nonviolent intervention by providing approximately 160 different MPT Display and Outreach Tables at venues, conferences, gatherings and events all over the United States.
