Through My Eyes: An Iraqi Feminist Speaks June 24

Naba Saleem Hamid, a professor at Baghdad University, and founder of the feminist peace organization New Horizons for Women--Iraq, will be speaking in East Lansing as a part of a national tour. Ms. Hamid brings hope to Iraqi women who have been disempowered through the violent history of Iraq. She will share what life is like for women under the current US occupation, and the vision that women have for the future of their country.

Ms. Hamid will speak at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Friday, June 24 at 7pm. Following her talk, she has invited a circle dialogue of local women who will speak to the issue of violence against women.

A silent auction and donation collection will support the work of Iraqi peacemakers through Ms. Hamid's organization.
