SECOND ANNIVERSARY OF THE WAR IN IRAQ
RECOMMIT TO END THE VIOLENCE
Join Michigan Peace Team, the Greater Lansing Network Against War and Injustice, Peace Education Center, MSU Students for Peace & Justice, and the LCC People for Positive Social Change at the state Capitol on the second anniversary of the war in Iraq (March 19, 2005).
Adam Shapiro, an internationally known peace activist, will speak about his work in Iraq and the documentary film he made with Iraqis called "About Baghdad". The film will be shown for free at MSU Wells Hall Rm 108B at 3:30pm on Saturday, March 19th.
Demonstrations are being held around the world to protest the US occupation of Iraq. In Michigan, protestors will gather at the Capitol at noon and then a 'critical mass' of bikes and cars will caravan to East Lansing with antiwar messages. Students and faculty will host a rally at the MSU Admin Bldg, followed by a showing of Shapiro's film "About Baghdad".
Schedule of Events:
11am Drumming at LCC gym; decorate cars and bikes; actions at Capitol
Noon Demonstration at the Capitol featuring internationally known peace activist Adam Shapiro
1pm Critical Mass of cyclists and Peace Car Caravan depart the Capitol for MSU rally
2:30pm Rally at MSU with students, faculty, poets, and others
3:30pm Free screening of documentary film "About Baghdad" at MSU Wells Hall Rm 108B.
