MICHIGAN PEACE TEAM
STATEMENT ON BURMA
September 26, 2007
Michigan Peace Team expresses our concern
for the people of Burma (Myanmar) today as
we learn about the killing of six
demonstrators in Rangoon and the jailing of
Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Suu Kyi.
We praise those in Burma (Myanmar) who have
been using nonviolence in their struggle for
justice, and encourage nonviolence on all
sides of the conflict.
We call on the government of Burma (Myanmar)
to respect international laws and the human
rights of the Burmese people.
We encourage all parties involved to explore
the use of unarmed international civilian
peacekeepers.
